PMG Group invests in a new production line in Austria [05/07/2007]
The production line will be set up at the Plansee Group’s site in Reutte, Austria. PMG board member Michael Krehl is satisfied with the straightforward decision: “It would not have been possible to acquire or expand appropriate infrastructure in such a short timeframe anywhere else in the region.”
Plansee Group increased this year’s investment budget for the Reutte site by 3.9 million euros to almost 62 million euros to build the new production facility.
The new production line is part of PMG Asturias, Spain and will begin to mass-produce powder metallurgical planetary carriers for use in automatic gearboxes in January 2008.
The company has set an ambitious timeframe for the completion of the project, and employees from the sister plant in Füssen, Germany will help with its construction. Discussions on possible further expansion of the business are currently in progress.
As yet, it has not been decided where this further expansion will take place. Michael Krehl comments: “When investing in the construction of new production lines, we will well consider which region can offer the most favorable business environment.”
The PMG Group, a leading global supplier of powder metallurgical (PM) products for the automotive industry, has around 2,500 employees and annual sales of 350 million euros. It has eleven manufacturing plants and sales offices spread across Europe, America and Asia. PMG is a joint venture of the Mitsubishi Materials Corporation and the Austrian-based Plansee Group.
