P/M World Congress in Washington: Awards for PMG [03/07/2008]
PMG Füssen won the grand prize in the automotive engine category for a stator used in a variable valve timing (VVT) system. The stator is a one-piece design that replaced two parts. It has two functions: a spline for the timingbelt pulley and the VVT housing.
PMG Japan won the grand prize in the automotive chassis category for a high-strength gear set used in a new tilting and telescoping steering column. The part is made from diffusion-alloyed P/M steel. In replacing forged and machined parts, P/M offered substantial cost savings with a net-shape design that eliminated the need for machining.
