SINTERSTAHL doubles size of production plant in Asturias, Spain

Eight years after building a new SINTERSTAHL factory for the manufacturing of transmission parts in Miéres, Asturias, Spain, the first expansion of this facility was inaugurated on July 5th, 2004. Dr. Michael Schwarzkopf, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Plansee Holding AG, could welcome the Spanish Secretary of Industry, José Montilla Aguilera, and the President of the Province of Asturias, Vicente Alvarez Areces, and other guests of honor at the ceremony.

SINTERSTAHL Asturias S.A. is one of four production plants of the SINTERSTAHL Division and produces exclusively synchronizer hubs for automotive LCV manual transmission applications.

“By focussing on a selected product group, state-of-the-art production technologies, highly motivated employees and the support of the province of Asturias, SINTERSTAHL Asturias has become one of the most productive plants of the Plansee Group”, stated Dr. Michael Schwarzkopf in his address at the formal inauguration ceremony.

“This business expansion marks another milestone of the global focusing strategy of the SINTERSTAHL-Group“. The total investment of 13 mil. €. will provide significant additional capacity to serve our customers needs and increase the workforce at this site to 110 employees.
