Power to restart
In the Nazi period, Paul Schwarzkopf was forced to emigrate to the USA. During this time, the factory was owned by the Deutsche Edelstahlwerke AG and used to produce armaments. Fortunately, Paul Schwarzkopf was able to successfully return and reclaim ownership of the site in 1952.
A fire in the sintering facility at the hard-metal plant in 1996 had a devastating effect on the site – until Hilde Schwarzkopf, principal shareholder of the Plansee Group, stood up in front of the workers and defiantly said "We will recover from this." With these words, she transformed their sadness into a determination and drive to get the company back on track.
